Who will win the COSIMA competition at the electronica 2018 fair this year?
The electronica Conference 2018 will be held November 13-16 in Munich. Like every year, the judging of the yearly COSIMA competition (Competition of Students in Microsystems Applications) will be part of this conference. Dominique Bouwes of Micronit GmbH is delighted to be a member of the jury. The winning teams qualify themselves for the international iCAN competition. We are very curious to find out who will be this year’s winner!
The COSIMA 2017 winners were teams from the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT), the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and Darmstadt Technical University. At the 2018 iCan Micro Systems competetion, two of these teams won sensational first and second prizes.
Alltogether, 16 German students competed in iCan 2018 against teams originating from China, Japan, Thailand, France, Taiwan, Egypt, Australia and Switzerland. The team from Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT) won a stunning first prize. Its entry, a compact and intelligent Smartphone-extension that enables the individually adjustable healing of insect bites and herpes vesicles by heat, conclusively convinced the jury.
The team of the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg developed an intelligent bicycle pedal, that collects several data through sensors. This entry won a second prize.
Teams of the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and Darmstadt Technical University ended among the first 14 of the total of 23 teams, alltoghether consisting of 75 students.
During the 2018 electronica Conference, teams from the Technical University of Braunschweig, RWTH Aachen University, the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and from Munich Technical University will compete. The highly motivated students promise to deliver entries with high levels of technical performance. We are looking forward to it!
